Former Clemson running back drowns in Georgia Lake





A former Clemson University drowned on Friday afternoon during a family outing in Georgia Lake.

Tyshon Dye, 25, drowned while swimming at Richard B. Russell State Park, Deputy Medical Specialist Beth Seymour told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The park is located about 1

20 miles east of Atlanta near the Georgia-South Carolina state border.

Dye, a native of Elbert County, knew how to swim, Seymour said. He and his brothers tried to swim across a bay in the beach area of ​​the park, but Dye decided to turn back, she said.

"It's hard to tell if he was exhausted and cramped," Seymour said. "But he went under."

Dye was recovered shortly before 6pm.

Dye graduated from Elbert County High School in 2013. He played three seasons for Clemson, according to ESPN.com, before moving to East Carolina for his final season.
