A formerly attached twin finally follows in the footsteps of her sister and goes home after 482 days in the hospital.
Hope Elizabeth Richards was released while wearing an identical multi-colored pastel dress for her sister Anna Grace.
To ease her transfer from the hospital, Hope, who continues to use a ventilator after her tracheostomy, was taken home by ambulance
"That's the moment, everything feels real," said her mother, Jill Richards when they left Texas Children's Hospital. "We are so excited that Hope can join Anna and her brothers at home."
Hope and Anna were born on December 29, 201
The couple was at the chest and abdomen, dividing a diaphragm, a liver and the inner surface of her heart.
"The moment the family knew they had twins, it was a question in their minds," Will we ever come to this point, "Will this day ever come?" "Dr. Oluyinka Olutoye from Texas Children's Hospital said in an earlier interview.
More than a year later, in January 2018, there were nearly 75 surgeons, anesthetists, cardiologists, and nurses
" That's the kind. " of procedures that plan you for the worst and hope for the best, "said Olutoye." We were blessed that this was the best case. Everything went very well. "
Since the operation, Olutoye said the twins had developed very well.
" I hope these girls live well, live a productive life, "he said one day come and I will carry them in my arms and say hello. "
