Former President George H.W. Bush's companion dog, Sully, to deliver his casket to D.C.

Former President George H.W. Bush's companion dog, a yellow Labrador named Sully, is reported to be escorting his casket as he travels to Washington, DC, to lie in the rotunda of the Capitol this week. Jim McGrath, Bush's spokesman, posted a photo on Twitter late on Sunday that left the devout dog sadly beside the casket. McGrath has titled the photo "Mission complete". Sully, a highly qualified support dog who has been on Bush's side since the death of former First Lady Barbara Bush this year, is reported to be reinstated to help other veterans of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. "As much as our family will miss this dog, we are confident we know that he will give his new home, Walter Reed, the same enjoyment he brought to 41

," former President George W. Bush wrote on Instagram. Older Bush died Friday at the age of 94. He is honored by members of the House and Senate at a ceremony scheduled for Monday at 5 pm. Members of the public can pay their respects at Capitol Rotunda from 7:30 am Monday through 7:00 pm Wednesday. His family is expected to release more memorial details later this week.
