The next week will prove to be particularly labor-intensive for Fortnite. Not only will it mark the start of the recently announced high stakes event, but Epic Games will release Fortnite's new 5.40 patch, and it looks like it's going to revolutionize the popular Battle Royale game.
The studio outlined some of the in depth changes in a new developer update . First, the 5.40 patch makes some improvements to the storm. In particular, the Edge of the Storm will damage player structures "in the final stages" of the game. Epic says this change was made in an effort to "provide a slightly more dynamic gameplay during the final phase of the game".
In addition, Epic has announced that it is with the 5.40 update another weapon in the vault. This time, the revolver is arched, effectively removing it from the game. "This is part of an initiative to keep the pool of items fresh and dynamic," Epic said. While this means that the players can not find the weapon for the time being, Epic reiterates that in the future she could always return to the game.
Epic has also teased that it is introducing a new "Mobility Item" as part of the 5.40 update, although the studio did not give any further details. In addition, Epic says that it will increase the rarity from Rare to Rare Explosive "to suit its effectiveness," and it will optimize stack sizes for certain objects when they fall, such as the Boogie Bomb.
