Fortnite Battle Royale has retired its weapons for a short time. At least its human inhabitants did it to see a clash between a kaiju from the deep and a stapled robot bent on destroying the other. This sort of event evidently has become such a magnet for players invested in the strange world around Epic's Battle Royale that they care about spoilers. So watch out! Spoiler!
If you're not in Fortloop, Matt gave an overview of how we came to this point earlier this week. Both the monster and the robot have been in operation for a while, with the first roughly awakened by the eighth-season asteroid crash, and the second being built in response to it inside the great volcano. Yesterday, the two faced each other, who looked like they were taken by "Enzait" on YouTube.
The stitched 'Mechs look full of mismatched limbs, and a Bubblegum Pink Bear's Head is so good. It may be a great showdown, but Fortnite is holding on to his weapons so as not to disturb the mood. Of course, it flutters with one arm over the dead body of Kaiju.
I hope they're alright and have some sort of lunar base to stand the rest of their days instead of just being space debris.
The island is a beautiful, rugged place that is not overly affected by this showdown. The monster's skull is now mated, somehow already covered in moss, which can provide a fitting setting for a showdown of its own. There is also a menacing energy ball whose appearance seems to change, even as we speak.
It is fascinating that there is no official cinema for such events. They are one of the things that keep Fortnite from the pack (and wear down the developers), refresh the battlefield, and keep people up to date on what to do next.
This drama should soon herald the beginning of the tenth season, and the World Cup finals will take place next week. Professionals can compete in a duo for three days in New York City.
