Epic Games has apparently given up trying to reach the same playing field in Fortnite on all platforms, with the current Discovery version 8.10 no longer being compatible with Xbox One and PlayStation 4 Cross-play parties.
Prior to this update, solo-switch players could play on and with rival platforms with and against users. Owners of Nintendo's hybrid device are now limited to the mobile pool, fighting to the end for a battle Royals victory against iOS and Android users. According to Epic, this is a better experience for everyone.
Although some disagree with this decision, the switch iteration has long been accused of not being able to compete with performance problems and a 30fps cap. Earlier this year, even Digital Foundry uncovered a bullet spike that showed how powerful versions of the game (on other platforms) had an advantage in combat ̵
On the other hand, it is likely to be a hunting season for switch owners as they partner with players who use devices that do not even have physical buttons and need touchscreen input.
What do you think about this adaptation? Did you expect that to happen? Do you even play this game? Tell us in the comments.
