Fortnite players have to wait a little longer than usual to complete the next weekly challenges. Instead of releasing the new challenges on Tuesday, as has been common in recent weeks, developer Epic announced on Twitter that the remainder of season four's weekly challenges will instead arrive every Thursday, as well earlier . [ Update: The 4.3 update is now available and the week 5 challenges will begin on Thursday as planned.]
The new challenges are now live on all platforms – PS4, Xbox One, PC and iOS – May 1 at 1am / 4am / 8am GMT. Epic says the delay is not due to any technical issues, but rather an "intentional change" to the Weekly Challenge Plan.
"This week, with the v4.3 update, we're starting to update our weekly challenges every Thursday instead of updating for the rest of Season 4," Epic said on Reddit. "Our goal is to reduce the risk of putting new weekly challenges in a bad state when the weekly rollover is delayed."
The 4.3 update mentioned above is also not yet available, but Epic has already introduced some of the quality enhancements to life in Fortnite: Battle Royale, one of which is a progress notification system. Once implemented, players will see messages as they complete goals, making it much easier to know where they stand to complete a particular challenge.
Other new features on the way to Fortnite are a timed Playground mode with friendly fire and respawn. A new cart vehicle also appeared recently in the game's "New Updates" feed. Epic has not announced any further details about the cart or when it will arrive in the game; His accompanying description simply says, "Roll in the fight alone or with a buddy."
