PARIS – French President Emmanuel Macron has pledged support to the Syrian Democratic Forces whose members he met in Paris to discuss the conflict in northern Syria.
In a statement released on Friday, the Elysee said Macron praised the group, commonly called SDF, and said it is bravely fighting the Islamic State group.
Macron called for full access to humanitarian aid to civilians in the Afrin region, who had been given "full control" by the Turkish army and its Syrian opposition fighters last week.
Macron used Thursday's SDF delegation of Arabs and Kurdish Syrians reaffirm France's opposition to the Kurdish rebel group PKK
Macron said he hopes the SDF and Turkey will build a dialogue with French aid.
