Her Note 9 does not fit in the Gear VR headset without any modifications that Samsung would rather not try. Instead, make phone calls or chat live with Samsung and request a free adapter. The only disadvantage? It takes two weeks to arrive.
If you already own a Gear Virtual Reality VR headset and have recently upgraded to the Galaxy Note 9, you have a problem. The Gear VR is considered compatible with a range of Galaxy phones including the S9, S9 +, Note 8, S8, S8 +, S7, S7 Edge, Note 5, S6 Edge +, S6, S6 Edge, A8 Star, A8, A8 + listed. However, the 9 rating does not fit, but Samsung still lists it as a compatible model.
Before you begin to modify the Gear VR you know that Samsung recognizes that it does not fit. The solution to this problem comes in the form of an adapter. The good news is that owners of Note 9 can get the adapter for free, they just need to call Samsung or have a live chat.
As SamMobile reports, some owners of Note 9 had turned to a Dremel . Bring their handsets into the Gear VR. Do not do that!
Samsung has made the model SM-R325N of the headset compatible via an adapter, but for obvious reasons not with the phone. To get one, just call Samsung in the US at 1
The bad news is the wait. Samsung states that it takes two weeks for the adapter to reach you. So, while it's free, it's not an instant fix (no, not grabbing the dremel). We also do not get a new Gear VR model that is immediately compatible. The next update is expected next to the Galaxy S10 until 2019, so this adapter is indispensable.
