Former President George W. Bush has posted on Instagram a picture of him delivering pizzas to his secret service detail that is not being paid due to the ongoing government shutdown.
"@ LauraWBush Thanks to our Secret Service staff and thousands of federal employees who work hard for our country without paying a salary, and we thank our fellow citizens who support them," Bush wrote. "It is time for the leaders of both sides to set the policy aside, come together and end the closure."
Bush rarely comment on current affairs and has remained since the funeral of his father George H.W. Bush, late last year.
Saturday is the 29th day of the longest government shutdown in history. President Trump and the Congressional Democrats are currently deadlocked about funding a border wall. Mr. Trump refuses to sign a government finance bill that does not include money for a wall, and Democrats reject negotiations while the government is closed. Approximately 800,000 federal workers have been dismissed since the beginning of the closure or work without pay.
