KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) – Someone has caught a giant, inflatable colon used to teach about the dangers of colon cancer.
The University Hospital Cancer Center said Friday in a news release it says
Surgical oncologist John Ashcraft says colon cancer is a difficult subject for many to talk about and the giant inflatable colon is a good conversation starter.
It's 10 feet long, weighs 150 pounds and is estimated at $ 4,000.
It is owned by the Cancer Coalition, which offers walking and running events under a campaign called "Get Your Butt Going".
The Cancer Coalition ships the inflatable colon over the land to uniquely investigate the progression of colon carcinoma.
One in 20 patients is diagnosed with colorectal cancer.
