Ryan Anderson already had a successful season in northern New Jersey. Will he still have a chance?
The Giants signed the former Rutger Punter Sunday after a tryout during a rookie minicamp last week. Anderson graded in the 2017 season as a graduate transfer for the Scarlet Knights.
Prior to landing in Rutgers, the left kicker in his native Michigan played in Division II at the Saginaw Valley State and spent his junior and senior season in Division III Olivet. For the Scarlet Knights, Anderson set the All-Time Punting average mark for all seasons (44.4 yards per attempt), was included in the Ray Guy Award watch list, and received the All-Big Ten award from the first team.
The Giants went on in the offseason by former Punter Brad Wing and were traded for Riley Dixon formerly Broncos. Maybe Anderson will provide internal competition as the team continues to search to improve the game of its special teams.
Anderson tried for the Patriots last year.
