Miracles happen, people. In recent weeks, we've seen Google Maps, and Drive and Contacts have added this nifty touch-up gesture. We just wanted it to find its way to Gmail. There, most of us often change daily between inbox and account. However, as the Gmail team likes to make changes (see Dark Mode), we thought it might take months for the feature to get into the app. But behold, it is here now.
Gmail version 2019.08.18 is the one you need to get this sweet Swipin. As with the previous iterations, simply swipe up or down the top right of your avatar, triggering the account switch. You can still tap to open the full account selection user interface. But the gesture is faster if you want to quickly switch between your inboxes.
The animation is the same as "Contacts": The static UI elements stay there, but your image and emails are fading in and out. However, unlike Contacts, there is no option for all inboxes, so you still need to access it manually from the page menu.
Those of you who have iOS devices may have noticed this The Gesture first appeared there many months ago in Google Mail . Although it's sad that Android is running after, we have the comfort of not waiting until 2020.
Gmail v2019.08.18 is We are being made available to users in the Play Store slowly, but we are nicer than Google, so you do not have to wait for it to get. It's already available on APK Mirror.
This release also contains the first signs of a dark Gmail mode. Both the app's widget and the splash screen have a dark version that matches the system-wide theme on Android Q (though you may need to force the cache to close and clear before you can see it). And if you're wondering, it's the same dark gray blue as Google Pay (# 202124). Thank you Rudresh and Henny Roggy!
