At the heart of Google's Android Auto experience is Google Maps. Now the company has introduced a number of new buttons for Google Maps users on Android Auto that just make the work a little more comfortable.

In recent days, the Android Auto interface for Google Maps has introduced these new shortcut buttons for a majority of users. This update has been circulating in the Android auto community for several months. Personally, I have the updated buttons since the end of June this year and a redditor reflects this.
As Android Police states, these buttons extend Google's offering. In previous versions, only the settings icon was displayed under the navigation details. These new shortcuts now include alternative routes, better search, a Locations button, and an overflow menu for other options.
As far as we know, these new links are being introduced to a large extent starting this week, based on numerous reports, Reddit, so you should see them very soon if you have not already. This comes just a few weeks after Google recently announced a complete redesign for Android Auto, which you can read in our handy overview.
