Google has just confirmed it will end another outdated IM service – YouTube News. The decision is probably related to the fact that not many people use the opportunity to communicate directly on YouTube.
Although it's a relatively old feature released in 2017 after a year of testing, there will be no more news on YouTube Available after September 18th. The announcement mentions that since the launch of the feature two years ago, YouTube has focused on public conversations with comment, post, and story updates.
Unfortunately, this was not enough to convince users to use the feature as many times as YouTube would have liked. After reassessing its priorities, Google decided to disable the news option hidden in YouTube and focus instead on improving public conversations.
Even though the ability to post messages on YouTube will be unavailable after September 18, you'll still be able to share YouTube videos by going to the Video Watch page, clicking Share, and then tap the social network icon you want to share a video with.
