With the launch of Pixel 3 in October, Google AR has redesigned Stickers to Playmoji and added a number of new features. In addition to a redesigned interface, the company has created an exclusive Childish Gambino package that finally hit the market on Friday. At the Grammys that evening, Made by Google announced the pixel's exclusive AR feature.
Google Advertising aired for 40 minutes in the 61st edition of the annual Music Awards show, showing the actual Childish Gambino alongside its virtual counterpart in the same outfit. The minute-long ad is a dance-off between the two, each one triggering the digital character one step at a time, with a "turn on the light" lyrics.
When the clip comes to an end A Pixel 3 XL flashes on the screen with a Playmoji logo telling users what they have just seen. Google finds that it is available "on pixels only" before the "G" logo is animated.
This is one of the company's better ads, mainly because Donald Glover and the Childish Gambino Playmoji felt pretty good and the other one was more sassing. Google allows the technology it advertises to be in the spotlight and not detailing it down to the last detail, the phone or the brand.
Now available to the owner of Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL can view the Google Camera app and the Playmoji Start the mode to download the package. Users can then insert the Childish Gambino character into each scene to take a photo or video.
In fact, Google has a hashtag #pixeldanceoff where people can post their dance-off recreations. Google says it has "worked closely with Childish Gambino and his music video choreographer Sherrie Silver to ensure that the Playmoji dance moves are equal to those of Childish Gambino himself," as the ad today proves.
Playmoji uses various Google technologies from ARCore for machine learning. Google's mobile augmented reality platform helps with motion tracking and light estimation to make the virtual childish gambino interactive and create a realistic feel. Meanwhile, ML takes the opportunity to respond to your facial expression as you take selfies in real time.
Google's exclusive sticker packs include the Avengers Star Wars: The Jedi . and Strange Things as well as several others in the first part such as Food, Pets, Sports and Weather.
While In the run-up to the Grammys, Apple announced its competing memoji and delivered its own ad to Google on the show today.
