It is well known that artificial intelligence algorithms do some strange things when left to themselves. Those who propel Google Translate have shown a strange tendency to translate gibberish from obscure languages into bizarre-sounding prophecies in English.
A subreddit dedicated to strange and interesting results from Google Translate has noticed the pattern in recent weeks. For example, repeating "dog" and translating from a language like Hawaiian would produce interesting results.
Then Vice motherboard began to experiment and discovered the repeated input of "ag" and their translation from the Irish other strange translations into English, such as: "The total number of Members of the Gershon Sons tribe totaled 1
Motherboard said that some people suspected on Twitter that ghosts or demons were behind the translations or that they came from private messages. A Google spokesman denied this and said Motherboard : "This is simply a function of entering nonsense into the system, to which nonsense is produced."
Whatever the reason, the translation was a fascinating look at the strange things that AI can produce, like things that seem to speak in tongues.
