Guntersville Schools join Boaz, Albertville and Marshall County for flu



Guntersville City Schools joins three other nearby schools that will be closed on Monday for flu outbreak.

The closure was announced on Saturday on the Facebook page of the school district. School officials will close the school on Monday and Tuesday to "provide the opportunity to rehabilitate school systems".

On Friday, the school released a social media note warning parents that the flu outbreak was being monitored. Her Facebook post also recommended that parents leave children at home if they had a fever of at least 100 degrees in the last 24 hours, or if they experienced generalized muscle aches, tiredness, malaise, vomiting, or coughing.

Albertville City Schools, which closed on Friday, will be closed on Monday.

The closures are coming to light as Alabama's North and East reports highlighting what the Alabama Department of Health has identified as "significant" influenza activity this week, and schools in at least 12 states – including Alabama – must be closed ,
