It may seem a bit early to explain that a celebrity has won Halloween this year – after all, there are still three days left until the holiday – but in this case, no evidence is needed anymore. For the Casamigos Halloween Party on Friday, October 26, Harry Styles disguised himself as Elton John of the Seventies – and the musical legend even gave him his seal of approval for the look.
For the annual Bash hosted by Cindy Crawford and husband Rande Gerber Styles channeled John's iconic, stunned LA Dodgers outfit which he wore at Dodgers Stadium in 1975. The sparkling look, the styles ended with a dazzling baseball cap and huge pink sunglasses (complete with their own rhinestones, because you can never sparkle enough) was designed for the "sign of the times" "singer of Gucci. John was so impressed with Styles costume – and his love of detail – that he published several photos of the one-time one-direction singer on his Instagram account and raved about the homage. "Well, that's what I call a Halloween costume John titled the photo set that showed how Styles smiled and posed for the camera and crouched on the floor with his tongue outstretched. The journalist Erica Zohar gave Bustle permission to take her photo Styles of the Party Release:
But Styles and John's connection goes deeper than just a Halloween costume; In 2016, John told The Daily Star that the younger singer had sought advice on working on his debut album Harry Styles .
"I've seen Harry a couple of times, which is great and I'm always there to give him advice," John said in a conversation about the mentoring of the new generation of British singers, the Styles, Ed Sheeran and James Blake.
And in April, during a conversation with Kacey Musgraves for his radio show "Beats 1" Rocket Hour about Apple Music, John Styles called a "treasure" and "a truly fabulous guy". After finding out that Styles was the one who asked Musgraves to go on tour with him to support his debut album, John said "I love him even more now" after he found out that "weird … but great "couple the" kiwi "singer idea.
While Styles himself has not said much about his friendship with the music legend, his solo music – and his choice of style – was heavily influenced by rock stars of the 1970s, including John, David Bowie and Mick Jagger Styles compared since the beginning of his career , (Indeed, Styles has long been rumored to play the Rolling Stones frontman in a coming biopic, though nothing has yet been confirmed or announced.)
But while Styles Halloween Costume might invite even more comparisons between his and John's exaggerated fashion choices when it comes to choosing his everyday outfits, Styles 'main inspiration is decidedly more of a' 90s icon.
"I think music and fashion, [my] main influence was probably Shania Twain," said Styles Entertainment Tonight in an interview in November 2017. "Yeah, I think she's unbelievable." (Hopefully, this means that fans can expect Styles to rock a lot of leopard prints next Halloween.)
Whether it's dressing up in a lavish costume or simply rocking a patterned suit on the red carpet, Styles has it made it clear that he is never afraid to take a risk when it comes to fashion. And since his' 70s-inspired outfit received John's seal of approval, it seems only a matter of time before baffled baseball hats become a major trend. Do not forget who shook you first!
