While Canadians patiently (or impatiently) wait for Apple to bring their Apple Watch Series 4 ECG app here, the iPhone maker must first obtain approval from Health Canada. The ECG app was launched yesterday with the release of watchOS 5.1.2 in the United States.
According to Health Canada's latest update, the federal agency responded to our request, "So far, Health Canada has not received an application for the Apple Watch Series 4 with the ECG function. The decision to apply for a medical device approval is up to the manufacturer.

The only way that Canadians can use is to use the ECG app that comes with an Apple Watch Series 4 in the United States. Some Canadians who bought their Series 4 in the US could use them outside the country.
