On Monday, a heat report will come into effect in large parts of Greater Boston. The temperatures are expected to rise to the early 80s and the heat index to the upper 90s.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat report from 11 am to 8 pm for parts of the counties of Norfolk, Middlesex, Bristol and Plymouth.
"Drink a lot of liquid, stay in an air-conditioned room, avoid the sunshine and look for relatives and neighbors," Weather Department forecaster said early Monday. Areas in Western Mass., Notably Hampden County, and much of Connecticut are also undergoing a heat-gathering session in the middle of the day, with similar heat index levels predicted by forecasters to be around 96 degrees.
