As promised, Nintendo's Pokemon-focused direct presentation on June 5th revealed a wealth of new details on the upcoming Pokemon Sword and Shield games for Switch. The show not only confirmed the release's title, but also gave us a first glimpse into some of the new characters players will encounter on their journey through the Galar region, as well as a handful of new Generation 8 Pokémon.
] First the Grass type Gossifleur whose pollen have healing properties. Gossifleur can develop into Eldegoss the Cotton Bloom Pokemon. We have also seen Wooloo an adorable sheep Pokémon covered with fluffy wool and Drednaw the Malicious Snapping Turtle. Finally, The Pokemon Company Corviknight unveiled the Raven Pokemon. These are not the only new Pokémon The Pokemon Company also unveiled Sword and Shield's legendary pokemon, the wolf-like zamacenta and zacian, with only a few details on the legendary revealed, but the former is covered with armor similar to a shield, while the first one is similar to a shield The latter carried a sword in its mouth In their revelation trailer, the Legendaries were briefly shown how they fought each other before a noise drew their attention.
That's certainly not all we have about Pokemon during Pokemon Direct Sword and Shield have learned. As speculated, the games introduce a new combat mechanic called Dynamaxing. Like Mega Evolution and Z-Moves before, Dynamax is triggered via its own button and can only be used once per battle. This causes your Pokémon to grow to a massive size, give them a power boost, and turn their attacks into maximum moves. Dynamax Pokemon only stays in that state for three rounds.
Players can also partner with other players and fight wild Dynamo Pokemon in Pokemon Go-like raids as they explore the Wild Area, an open, world-like environment between Galar cities.
