Investors may be happy. Dow Jones Industrial Average Futures rose 28 points on Sunday at 1

8:50. EST, S & P 500 futures rose 3 points, and Nasdaq Composite futures rose 9 points.

That should keep investors in mind next week.

FOMC minutes released on Wednesday

The Federal Open Market Committee will release the minutes of its last meeting on August 22.

"The main focus of the FOMC Protocol … will be on any discussion on balance sheet normalization and the longer-term operational framework, and Powell could provide further guidance in his presentation on these issues at the 2018 KC Fed Policy Symposium", said the strategists of Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

This time around, the minutes may be particularly critical for investors among several hot inflation reports.

Revenue, revenue, revenue

Also on Wednesday, the last large group of retailers will report on the results of the second quarter.

Lowe & # 39; s Co. (LOW), Sears Holdings Corp. (SHLD), Target Inc. (TGT) and L Brands Inc. (LB) will report. Target, Lowe's and Sears will be reporting in front of the bell, but L Brands will report after graduation.

TheStreet does not believe Sears is in such a great location and the company may have dangerously little money available. In the meantime, investors are browsing through the reports to place bets on possible winners of the holiday season. Walmart (WMT) is considered the leader to win the holidays, while J.C. Penney (JCP) could be a big loser due to the trends in the second quarter.

Also on August 24, the battling GameStop Corp. (GME) report on the bell.

Rumors about TheStreet

Alibaba (BABA) will release second-quarter results on Thursday. Given the slump in Chinese Internet stocks and the weak performance of gaming giant Tencent (TCEHY), it is possible that Alibaba's release is disappointing. TheStreets tech columnist @EricJhonsa shows a preview of the results.

Tesla's (TSLA) Roadster will be featured on Thursday in the latest issue of CNBC's "Jay Leno's Garage." TheStreets Tesla expert @BretKenwell constructs a case in which Tesla beats $ 420 a share in its latest "Tesla's" column. Hat tip to Leno when he mentions Tesla's volatile stocks and erratic founder Elon Musk (both unlikely).

Coal shares in the spotlight before a Trump rally in West Virginia on Tuesday. Trump is expected to clear the table if he reverses the requirements of the Obama era for coal.
