While it had a notoriously bad start Final Fantasy 14 has been one of the most popular MMORPGs in the world since its reboot in 2013. The game remains popular on PC and PS4 thanks to the consistent support of Square Enix, but strangely never made it to Xbox One. Now we better know why Final Fantasy 14 is not on Xbox One, though Square Enix brings most of its other games to the platform.
According to Final Fantasy 14 Game Director Naoki Yoshida, a Final Fantasy 14 Xbox One port has not yet happened because of Microsoft's own rules on crossplay. Apparently, Microsoft has a rule that allows players to chat with players on other platforms, and a rule that does not allow a community of players to be on another platform, such as a guild.
Microsoft seems to be the reason Final Fantasy 14 is not on Xbox One. Yoshida says he recently talked with the head of the Xbox Phil Spencer about the situation, but it does not seem that any progress has been made towards the Final Fantasy 14 on the Xbox One.

However, there seems to be some hope at least that we might see Final Fantasy.
After all, a staged version of Final Fantasy 14 is being discussed, and it does not look as if the game would be aborted shortly, assuming that it continues to be a serious one Lifespan, it is obvious that we will someday Final Fantasy 14 on Xbox One or maybe Project Scarlett will see.
Meanwhile Final Fantasy 14 will soon have its next major expansion. On July 2, the expansion Shadowbringers will be released for Final Fantasy 14 .
