Highlights, key games and photos of BYU's 42-14 win over Utah State

LOGAN – BYU emphatically ended the winning streak in the Old Wagon Wheel series in the state of Utah as the Cougars rolled past Aggies 42-14 late Saturday night at Maverik Stadium.

BYU could not improve to 4-4 a year, while also USU to .500, even at 4-4, in the season. Here are three takeaways that defines the game. QB battle BYU Jaren Hall and Baylor Romney prevailed in Logan against Jordan Love from the US state of Utah.

Love completed 29 of 49 passes for 394 yards and a touchdown, although the highly acclaimed quarterback threw three interceptions, two of which led to BYU touchdowns in the second quarter. He also had a fumble in the fourth quarter. Hall started the game for BYU and completed 1

2 of 16 passes for 214 yards and rushed for 54 yards and two touchdowns before he left the game shortly before halftime with what the BYU's radio sports network reported was a concussion.

Romney arrived for the second half and completed 10 of 16 passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns in the third quarter with a trapping. He gave way to Joe Critchlow late as BYU passed for 418 yards in the game.

Chunk Games Drive Cougar Attack

BYU had 10 games of 20 or more meters in the game, including nine passes and one long-running match. This was led by a 77-yard Lopini Katoa Fang in the fourth quarter, which was part of a 99-yard touchdown ride that closed the door of the Aggies. Katoa had a career height of 129 yards.

BYU finished the game with a total of 639 yards of attack, well above the average of the Cougars of 380.1 yards towards Saturday. BYU averages 8.5 yards per game.

Utah State had a total of 521 yards attack, averaging 6.4 yards per game.

Costly Penalties

Utah State gave themselves a chance to lose 35-14 towards the end of the third quarter as Cam Lampkin caught Romney in the end zone and the Aggies moved quickly in the field.

In the first game of the fourth quarter, Love beat Siaosi Mariner for a 7-yard touchdown pass, but the USU was flagged for a Disqualified player. Three games later, Love Jordan hit Nathan with a pass and Nathan hit the 1-yard line before BYU's Austin Lee prevented him from scoring a goal on the goal line.

After a while, BYU was unable to defeat in the opening three games and knocked the ball off, but the aggies were stopped to harass the opponent, and the Cougars retained possession of the ball. BYU later scored a touchdown and rose to 28 after Katoa's 77-yard catch had given way to a 6-yard run by Katoa TD.
