A storm tired South Jersey can comfort in the fact that Saturday will be a quiet finish to March. A cold front will pass on Easter Sunday, but we want to stay dry.
Saturday is high. The sun will be abundant, the temperatures are seasonal and the winds are bright. A high temperature of 57 degrees is expected on the mainland. On the coast, the temperatures are getting colder, thanks to the winds that come ashore in the afternoon. Nevertheless, it will feel good in the strong late March sun with a high value of about 50.
If you're on a Saturday night, all you need is a light jacket. In the evening, the temperatures fall through the 50s and reach around 40 degrees on Easter morning. Dry weather will remain, but a cold front approaches and raises the cloud cover.
The cold front will happen sometime around noon. This will crack the Easter egg to a bright, sunny sky in the afternoon (pun intended). The temperatures will rise until the 50s. It's a couple of degrees below average, though it feels good in the sun like Saturday.
Another system will be kicking in (OK, last Easter game) when we switch to the new work week. As we have shown in the forecast in recent days, the snowflakes on Monday morning are in the forecast.
Snow falling before sunrise will be able to stay. However, once we get to the morning rush, it would be hard to stay on the road. Sometimes rain would interfere to reduce the risk. Overall, it should not be a big storm, but plan some extra travel time.
As it turns out, April snow is not rare, but is unusual. Eighteen percent of April had snow at Atlantic City International Airport, with records from 1
On a personal note, it is always fun to watch winter battles with the inevitable warm weather coming up.
