DALLAS – Two Dallas police officers were shot and seriously injured in a Home Depot shootout Tuesday afternoon, reports CBS Dallas / Fort Worth. The Dallas police say that a civilian was also shot. Her condition was unknown.
A large police presence was seen outside the store and a person was loaded into an ambulance. Sources reported that CBS DFW's JD Miles was a suspect looking for a suspect near a creek behind the store, and officers were seen in search of a creek bed.
The police identified the suspects as Armando Juarez, 29.
In a tweet, the Dallas police asked for prayers for the officers and their families.
The police with drawn weapons responded as the staff seemed to tumble out of the store away from the area, the station reports. The police evacuated the shop and the staff were sent home for the day. Armored vehicles responded to the scene.
Clerks told the station that the incident started as a shoplifting, and gunfire was fired after the police responded at 4:00 pm. An officer was taken to Presbyterian Hospital, the station reports.
