The arrests of high-level Democratic leaders stand Shortly before the 13th mass protest weekend in the Asian financial center.

What the protesters want: The protests started in June because of a controversial extradition law, but have now expanded to five demands: complete withdrawal of the extradition law, establishment of an independent investigation into Investigation of police brutality, withdrawal of the characterization of protests as "insurgency", release of these arrested in protests and universal suffrage in Hong Kong e

Who are they: The movement has seen participants and supporters in all population groups, but those at the front are mostly young students, te inmates and millennials. There is no centralized leadership or representative within the movement – they are proud to be democratic, leaderless and flexible.

Summer of Dissatisfaction: Since the beginning of the mass demonstrations on June 9, 900 people have been arrested police, for a number of offenses, including "participating in an uprising", unlawful assembly, attacks on police officers, resistance to arrest and possession of assault weapons. The youngest person arrested is 12 years old.

Where to go: Nobody really knows. The protests become volatile as fear and mistrust spread and the police intensify arrests and raids. The violence has been escalating for weeks, and it could continue if both sides dig in.
