Hoosiers earn two seeds, travel to Austin

After a less successful Big Ten tournament where they had little to gain and seemingly had nothing to lose, the Indiana Hoosiers got a big place in the NCAA baseball tournament. Chris Lemonis' team will be deeply immersed in the heart of Texas for the second time as they travel to the Austin Regional at the Disch-Falk Field of the University of Texas.

Indiana could have gotten a break when it comes to their regional host. Of all the 16 teams hosting a regional tournament, the Texas Longhorns are the worst in the RPI rankings (22nd, only seven places higher than Indiana), and presumably in case of doubt winning the regular season title in the second best RPI conference to have . However, the Hoosiers will have their hands full on Friday in the opening match against Texas A & M, the highest-ranking team in RPI (1

5th).

Rounding out the regional Texas Southern (217th in RPI). (19659004) The winner of the Austin regional will meet with the winner of the Oxford, Mississippi regional organized by Ole Miss.

If the Hoosiers were to win the Austin Regional Austin and everyone from Tennessee Tech, Missouri State, or St. Louis should steal the Oxford regional, the Hoosiers would likely host the super regional as seeding beats them higher than all three of these Teams on the NCAA's curve. And when it comes in the stadium between Indiana and Tennessee Tech as a two-seed, Bart Kaufman Field has more than twice as many fans as the Bush Stadium in Cookeville.
