A Christmas Carol is one of the most famous Christmas stories of all time. The 1843 novel by Charles Dickens was too often adapted to be counted for both the stage and the screen.
If there is a theater group in your town, chances are that they will produce the story of Ebenezer Scrooge at this time of year. There were opera versions, a ballet and animated adaptations for television. And since 1901 there have been more than 15 movie versions of the book. The Muppet Christmas Carol is one of Dickens Story's Best Cultures
On paper it does not sound like a musical adaptation of A Christmas Carol with a mix of human actors and muppets function. But it definitely does. The 1992 film features Michael Caine as Scrooge, Kermit the Frog as Bob Cratchit, Miss Piggy as Mrs. Cratchit and a number of other well-known Muppet faces in supporting roles.
The film (directed by Jim Henson's son Brian Henson) is aimed at children, but for adults it's just as enjoyable. Combining humor and sincerity, it offers an outstanding performance by Caine as the man who experiences the true meaning of Christmas, as well as some catchy songs.

Unlike last year, HBO The Muppet Christmas Carol has run out of demand this year. In fact, the movie does not appear to be on television this holiday weekend. (We can only assume that Frank Cross from Scrooged made this decision.)

Several adaptations for a Christmas Carol are included in Amazon Prime subscriptions. There is a British version of 1935 with Seymour Hicks as Scrooge and a 1950s television adaptation with Basil Rathbone. A modern version of the 2000 story is also available, as is a TV version featuring Vincent Prince narrator and several animated versions. The Film of 2017 The Man Who Invented Christmas tells the story of how Dickens wrote his famous novella in just six weeks.

On Christmas Day, FXM broadcasts a marathon of the Sim version of A Christmas Carol while Starz Encore Scrooged the Bill Murray film shows inspired by the Dickens story.
