HTC U12 Life is like the Pixel 2, only prettier

When the HTC U12 Plus ($ 800 at Amazon.com) was too good for its own good, the HTC U12 Life, which the company held at the IFA 2018 conference in Berlin debuted is so tame, it echoes a phone from 2017: the Pixel 2 ($ 649 at Google Store) .

In the U12 Life, HTC backs from the U12 Plus's "squeezable side and static" buttons which vibrate instead of press in. In their place, the U1

2 Life is all purple or blue eye candy with a partial glass panel on the back, which mimics the back of 2017's flagship mobile phone from Google. (The Pixel 3 is expected by the way already on the 9th of October.)

What we can see is that HTC, which has always distinguished itself with a sleek, eye-catching smartphone design, is here did a better job than on the Pixel ($ 313 on Amazon.com) and Pixel 2, which the company also designed to Google's specifications

This "mimicry" is not a real one given HTC's relationships Surprise hip with the googs. In January of this year Google HTC engineers who were already working on the pixel phones, have been included in the Googleplex. It's not clear how much of the Pixel's design language would have flowed between the two companies before Google completed its HTC business.

The HTC U12 Life, which is sold in Europe but not in the US or Australia, is a mid-price offering sold for £ 299. This price converts to $ 390 and AU $ 535. Apart from the pixel-like support, the U12 Life has some pretty compelling features for a phone of its quite reasonable price. There is a large 6-inch display, two rear view cameras for portrait mode, an expandable memory and a rare headphone jack. (See all specifications below.)

We will keep an eye on this one; It becomes an interesting candidate in the middle range.
