The Huawei Mate 20 Pro features a massive OLED screen, a fingerprint scanner on the display, three rear-facing cameras, an ultra-fast Kirin 980 chipset, a huge 4,200mAh battery and 3D face unlock. Launched in London last week, Huawei will launch the Mate 20 Pro next month as an exclusive Amazon for a "premium price" to India.
Huawei, the second largest smartphone maker in the world, is planning this for the first time launches its flagship Mate series in India. Earlier this year, the Shenzhen-based company also introduced the P Series for the first time in India

The Mate 20 Pro is an all-rounder that has everything to offer from performance to battery life, but that's enough to challenge incumbents, especially if the iPhone XS Max (including the iPhone XS) and Galaxy Note 9 were praised for their top-notch performance?
I have the Huawei Mate 20 Pro to try before India starts in New Delhi .That's what I think about the Mate 20 Pro because of my first impressions.
Huawei Mate 20 Pro Specifications: 6.39-inch OLED display (3120 x 1440) resolution, HDR support | Kirin 980 processor | 6 GB RAM | 128 GB external memory, expansion via new & # 39; Nano Micro Card & EMUI 9 , based on Android 9.0 Pie | Leica brand 40MP F1.8 27mm primary camera, 8MP F2.4 80mm telephoto with OIS for 3x zoom and 20MP F2.4 16mm ultra-wide, 24MP F.20 front camera | 4,200mAh battery with 40W charge support and wireless charging | FaceID like 3D unlocking system | IP68 rated | Fingerprint scanner on display | 157.8 × 72.3 × 8.6 mm; 189 grams
Huawei Mate 20 Pro first impressions: The looks
The Mate 20 Pro has a glass back with an aluminum frame (like all other flagships from 2018). The phone is available in five colors: rose gold, midnight blue, emerald green, twilight and black. In India, however, the company could only bring the phone at dusk or in emerald green. Huawei also introduces a new texture to the Mate 20 Pro. It is referred to as the "hyper-optic display pattern" and can only be found on the Emerald Green and Midnight Blue models. The handset is also IP68 waterproof and dustproof.
On the front, the Mate 20 Pro feels very similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, thanks to a 6.39-inch domed OLED screen. The bezels are smaller and the phone has an "Octa Curve" design, with the front and back glass bent on all four edges. But unlike the Note 9, Huawei Mate 20 Pro has a notch that is actually larger than the one on the Mate 20. That's because this notch has a 3D depth detection camera, similar to Apple's Face ID on the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.
The volume controls are located next to the on / off switch on the right side of the screen. The SIM tray is located at the bottom of the USB Type C port and the "invisible" speakers. And yes, the Mate 20 Pro does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack. New to the Mate 20 Pro is a smaller Nano SD card, which is Huawei's proprietary format. Simply put, the phone does not offer the standard microSD card, which is really frustrating. We have no idea when the new Nano SD will be available for purchase and how much it costs.
Huawei Mate 20 Pro First Impressions: The Display
So far, Samsung Note Se Ries is the gold standard for the best screen technology. For example, Samsung Note 9 comes up on the front of the display. With the 6.39-inch display of the Mate 20 Pro Huawei Samsung presents great challenges. Incidentally, the OLED display (3,120 x 1,440 pixels, 19.5: 9 aspect ratio), manufactured by the Chinese BOE Technology Group, is sharp and bright with inky black, bold colors and wide viewing angles. I can not wait to put the Mate 20 Pro and Galaxy Note 9 side by side and compare them based on the brightness and color accuracy of the display.
Huawei Mate 20 Pro First Impressions: 3D Face Recognition, In-Display Fingerprint Scanner
Directly above the massive 6.39-inch screen is a notch in which a 3D depth-detection camera for facial recognition and a 24-inch MP front camera are housed. The set-up consists of a 24 megapixel RGB camera with dot projector, proximity sensor, floor lighting and an IR camera. I still have to test the feature myself, so it would be difficult to make the final verdict so early. Hopefully we will be able to give a detailed description of how the unlocking method works in our tests.
Alternatively, there is a fingerprint sensor embedded in the screen. Place your finger on the fingerprint icon that is visible on the screen and unlock the device. I tested it briefly during a short hands-on, it worked as advertised. Vivo already provides the same functionality on some of its phones, and the upcoming OnePlus 6T will also come with an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Huawei Mate 20 Pro First Impressions: Performance
After the iPhone XS series also offers the Mate 20 Pro a 7-nanometer processor in a phone. Both the A12 Bionic and Kirin 980 processors are proprietary chipsets.
In the case of the Mate 20 Pro, Huawei's custom-made Kirin 980 chipset offers a 20 percent improvement in speed over the Kirin 970, which powers the Honor 10 and P20 Pro, along with 40 percent better energy efficiency. There are eight cores in total: two at 2.6 GHz for peak power, while the other four 1.8 GHz cores provide low power and two 1.92 GHz cores. Most importantly, the Kirin 980 chipset is dual neuronal processing units (NPUs) (Kirin 970 from last year had a single neural core), the first to perform tasks such as recognizing objects and rendering video in the Taking Real Life to Use Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning The company claims that the Mate 20 Pro is one of the fastest smartphones on the market today. Because of my limited testing, I can say that the Mate 20 Pro feels fast and smooth. Again I could not fully test the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, but the first impressions are encouraging.
While the Mate 20 Pro is hardware-superior, I must say a lot to perfect the software experience. For starters, the Mate 20 Pro Android 9.0 Pie, with Huawei's EMUI 9.0 skin on top. Yes, the UI has been greatly improved, but the problem is that it's pretty cluttered and the icons are just awful. For a Mate 20 Pro's flagship mobile phone, Huawei needs to put a lot of emphasis on ease of use to make it as good as the iPhone XS and OnePlus.
Let me remind you that the device was included I was the test device during the practice period and you should expect the UI on the retail unit to be better and more localized.
Huawei Mate 20 Pro First Impressions: Battery, Reverse Wireless Charging
Huawei Mate 20 Pro comes with a 4,200 mAh battery, the first flagship smartphone out there. By comparison, the Galaxy Note 9 has a 4,000 mAh battery. Therefore, we expect the battery life of the Mate 20 Pro to exceed the impressive battery life of grade 9. Also keep in mind that the Mate 20 Pro is equipped with a 40 watt Super Charger, which promises to charge the handset to 70 percent in just 30 minutes.
Most flagship smartphones this year – be it the iPhone XS, Note 9 or Pixel 3 XL support wireless charging. The surprising part of the Mate 20 Pro is that it also acts as an external Qi charger. To test it, I dropped my Pixel 3 on the Mate 20 Pro and it automatically started loading. It is a very useful feature that allows you to load the other phone in case of emergency.
Huawei Mate 20 Pro First Impressions: Triple Cameras
The P20 Pro was the first commercially available smartphone with a triple camera on the back. With the Mate 20 Pro, Huawei has kept Leica's triple camera lenses, but made a few changes here and there to enhance the experience with intelligent AI features.
So the Mate 20 Pro gets the 40MP wide-angle camera and 8MP telephoto lens like the P20 Pro, which also offers a 3x optical zoom. Now the difference between the two is that the 20 megapixel monochrome sensor featured on the P20 Pro has been replaced by a 20.2-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. The implementation is similar to LG's V40 Triple Camera Setup.
Due to the limited amount of time I spent on the phone, I found that switching between three lenses was fast. You'll need to slide a zoom slider down the screen to access the ultra-wide-angle lens. Like the P20 Pro, Huawei's AI features (it can now detect 1,500 scenes) have been added to the Mate 20 Pro's camera. It can detect different scenes and adjust the camera settings to get the best shot. Then there is the AI Cinema Mode and AI 4D Predictive Focus, which unfortunately I could not test because of lack of time. There was a 24 MP camera on the front, but I did not have a chance to test it.
Expect a detailed camera rating and comparisons with the iPhone XS and Note 9. We are also pleased to test the Mate 20 Pro with the Pixel 3 praised for its camera, especially in low light conditions
Huawei Mate 20 Pro First Impressions: Early Judgment
The Mate 20 Pro represents Huawei's growing ambitions to compete in the high-end segment with Apple and Samsung. While the company is not chasing volumes with the Mate 20 Pro in India, it is said that it's about offering consumers an alternative to the iPhone XS Max and Galaxy Note 9.
We can not currently confirm the price and availability of the Mate 20 Pro in India. All we know is that the launch is scheduled for next month and the phone will be exclusive to Amazon India. The Mate 20 Pro is already available in the UK and in several European markets, where it stands at 1049 euros (or about 88,871 rupees).
