The Huawei P20 Pro and P20 Lite were unveiled in India at an event in New Delhi within a month of their worldwide revelation. The new Huawei P20 series smartphones feature AI camera capabilities, with the optics developed in collaboration with lens maker Leica. The P20 Pro has a triple rear camera, while the P20 Lite has two reversing cameras. Both smartphones feature FullView displays and run Android Oreo out of the box. The Huawei P20 Pro will compete with flagships like the iPhone 8 and the Samsung Galaxy S9, while the P20 Lite will compete against opponents like Oppo F5 and Vivo V9. Huawei did not bring the third model in the range, the P20, to India.

The Huawei P20 Pro Dual SIM (Nano) runs EMUI 8.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo, with support for Google ARCore and a deeply customized Google Assistant. It has a 6.1-inch Full HD + (1080×2240 pixels) OLED FullView display with a contrast ratio of 1: 1,000,000 and a color gamut of 105 percent. It should have a "natural sound", which is pleasant for all lighting conditions.
The Home button supports gestures such as short typing for the back, long typing for home, and swiping left or right for multitasking. Huawei claims the P20 Pro has thinner bezels than the iPhone X and a smaller notch. The smartphone is powered by the Octa-Core Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC, which features a dedicated neural processing unit (NPU) that can perform artificial intelligence calculations over the cloud instead of over the cloud.

The triple-camera setup developed in collaboration with Leica is the highlight of the Huawei P20 Pro. There is an 8 megapixel sensor with 3x optical zoom, a 40 megapixel RGB sensor and a 20 megapixel monochrome sensor. Between the larger lenses are a laser transmitter and receiver for a faster autofocus and a Leica color temperature sensor. The camera has a sensitivity of up to ISO 102400 and offers in addition to the 3x optical zoom, a 5x lossless hybrid zoom and a 10x digital zoom.
The P20 Pro features 4D Predictive Focus, which provides immediate focus in motion prediction, and supports 6-axis stabilization and 960 fps super-slow motion video recording. It also offers "Master AI" scene recognition, with Huawei recognition of over 500 scenarios in 19 categories. On the front, the smartphone has a 24.8-megapixel camera. The P20 Pro is IP67 dust and water resistant and powered by a 4000mAh battery with support for Huawei's Supercharge quick charger, which is designed to deliver a 58% charge in just 30 minutes.
The P20 Pro can be switched to a desktop using a Type-C HDMI cable with the Huawei PC mode, which works much like the Samsung DeX platform. It supports multitasking and multiple windows and is capable of handling two different tasks at the same time, apart from emulating a keyboard and touchpad on the smartphone itself.
Now comes the Huawei P20 Lite with EMUI 8.0 on Android 8.0 Oreo. The smartphone comes with a Full HD screen with 5.84 inches Full HD + (1080 x 2280 pixels) and an aspect ratio of 19: 9. The handset has a 2.5D subtle, domed glass design on the back. It is powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 659 SoC, paired with 4GB of RAM. It has 64 GB of built-in memory, with the ability to extend it via microSD cards up to 256 GB.
On the imaging front panel, the P20 Lite has a dual-camera setup on the back with a 16-megapixel primary sensor with an aperture of f / 2.2 and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. On the front, the smartphone has a 24-megapixel sensor with an aperture of f / 2.0, with support for AR-based stickers similar to Apple's Animojis and Samsung's AR Emojis. The smartphone also supports 3D face recognition with 96 detection points and unlock the facial skin. The sensors on board include a proximity sensor, an ambient light sensor, a compass, a gravity sensor, a gyroscope, and a fingerprint sensor on the back. The smartphone is 148,6×71,2×7,4mm and has a non removable 3,000mAh battery.
