Human remains are identified as missing Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillen, according to the family lawyer

The 20-year-old Guillen has been missing since April and was last seen on April 22 in the parking lot of their barracks in Fort Hood, according to the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command (CID). Her remains were found on June 30th.

Guillen was beaten to death with a hammer in the gun room where she worked. Her body was carried out of the military facility by her killer, Khawam said, citing details the family had learned from a meeting with army investigators on Thursday.
Khawam told CNN on Sunday that Guillen could not be identified from her medical records because her face was beaten so badly. Her remains had to be sent to Delaware Dover Air Force Base for identification.

“It was just a sad morning and a sad weekend for us,”

; said Khawam.

Spc. Aaron David Robinson

The main suspect of the disappearance was identified as Spc by officials on Thursday. Aaron David Robinson, who shot himself on Wednesday after being confronted by investigators, said the Killeen Police Department.

Khawam said the family had told her that Guillen had planned to file a harassment complaint against Robinson the day after her death, and that they believed Robinson got angry when she told him about it. However, Robinson informed the authorities that Guillen wanted to report that he had a relationship with a married woman, which the Guillen family denies.

Fort Hood officials said they had no knowledge of reports of sexual harassment with Robinson, but the investigation was ongoing.

Cecily Aguilar

Khawam said the investigators had told the family that Robinson had called a woman he had worked with to help him dispose of Guillen’s body after he took her out of the base.

A woman identified as Cecily Anne Aguilar who is the estranged wife of a former Fort Hood soldier. Aguilar was arrested by Texas Rangers in connection with Guillens’ disappearance and is in Bell County prison waiting for civil authorities to file charges, CID said.

CNN’s Kay Jones and Ray Sanchez contributed to this report.
