The best team in the NL has to deal with the worst in the NL at home. But hey, no weather problems.
At some point, the Dodgers had to reckon with the Marlins' mistakes to assert themselves and achieve a close 2: 1
Against the worst team in the National League, this series should be a walk in the park for the Dodgers, but beginners Zac Gallen had other plans. The offensive started at the beginning of the second half and averaged eight runs per game on the road, but they only managed three goals and four shots before Gallen.
After finishing second and third with one goal in the second and one man in second place, the Dodgers made the breakthrough on the sixth. A single by Alex Verdugo and walks by Justin Turner and A.J. Pollock loaded the bases with just one down and threw galls out of the game. Corey Seager then hit a grounder and knocked out the double attempt when Starlin Castro struggled to bring him to second place and tie the game 1-1.
Enrique Hernandez followed him with another grounder, but this time Starlin Castro literally booted him and brought another to make it 2-1 for the Dodgers. He also dropped a pop fly later in the game. Sweet!
Hyun-Jin Ryu did not have the best of things. He walked three times tonight, which is just shocking. But when the dust had settled, he made 102 pitches and seven innings and gave up only one run with four hits and three courses. An outstanding performance to keep his team in the race when it mattered.
Kenta Maeda who had rained his last start, entered his playoff role and looked keen. Yes, Slider's death against Righties is planned, but even more promising is that he was in relief 93 (or 94 in the stadium) with his fastball, similar to 2017.
Kenley Jansen then tried to recover from a dramatic parry against the Phillies and an injury to his ankle after being hit by a comebacker. Kenley prevailed to achieve a drama-free victory.
Everyone thanks Starlin Castro.
The Dodgers reach after 100 games in the year 65-35.
The two teams are playing tomorrow evening at 15:10 HST / 6 one hour earlier than usual: 10 PM PST / 9:10 PM EST. Clayton Kershaw meets Sandy Alcantara .
