Electric vehicles allow owners a wider choice of energy sources to power their vehicles. It is known that electric vehicle owners use solar energy at a higher rate than the rest of the people.
Some of them even want to use solar energy directly in their vehicles – even though this is not the most efficient place for them.
Hyundai and Kia have now unveiled a new solar roof for vehicles, which will come on the market next year.
The problem with solar panels in vehicles is that they do not generate enough power to do much of anything. Toyota already had an option for a solar roof for the previous PHEV Prius, which, however, only produced 50W and powered the fans for AC power.
Fisker had a similar option for karma, but had little effect
But now several automakers are advancing with new systems that could be able to power batteries to power and even power the vehicle to reach a certain reach.
Hyundai and Kia are the latest on board to develop three different solar cells for all vehicles, from the ICE to the all-electric vehicle:

The technology developer, Jeong-Gil Park, Executive Vice President of the Engineering and Design Division of the Hyundai Motor Group, commented:
"We expect in the future that many different types of power generation technologies are integrated into our vehicles. The solar roof is the first of these technologies and means that automobiles no longer passively use energy, but actively produce it. It is an exciting development for us to develop a technology for vehicle owners to help them turn energy consumers into power producers.
They plan to introduce the technology in vehicles next year.
If you want to power your electric vehicle with solar energy, installing solar cells in the car itself is not the most efficient method.
The roof of a car is not very large and in relation to the vehicle is not very efficient sun often enough to support a solar system well. In general, it is more efficient to have solar panels at home and charge your car there.
