“I don’t belong to anyone”

Exactly a year after their very public split, singer Miley Cyrus is preparing to debut her first 2020 single. Her break from music came after she separated from her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth. But now she’s back – and here’s why the teasing lyrics seem appropriate for the occasion.

Cyrus and Hemsworth first met on the set of their film The last song It wasn’t long before reports surfaced that they were a real-life couple. They were together for two years (with a few rumored “breaks”) before they got engaged for the first time. Then, in 2013, they canceled it.

After a few years, Cyrus and Hemsworth were spotted together in early 2016. Apparently they had remained friends all along. Months later, they confirm that their engagement has resumed. They tied the knot in a private ceremony in December 2018.

They announced their split in August 2019

After a few public appearances in early 2019, Cyrus and Hemsworth were not seen together for a few months. Then, in August 2019, fans noticed on social media that she wasn’t wearing her wedding ring. On August 10, it was official – a statement said they had split up.

“Just a quick note to say that Miley and I recently broke up and I wish her nothing but good health and happiness for the future,” Hemsworth wrote on Instagram on August 12th. Meanwhile, Cyrus shared photos with cryptic messages apparently aimed at making the decision.

Cyrus’ real answer came in the form of a song a few days later. On August 15, 2019, she dropped a surprise single “Slide Away”. On the track, she sings about letting go of their relationship and tells Hemsworth to “go back to the sea” while she goes “back to the city lights.”

But the lyrics that most of them focused on were conveyed in the lyric video and the music video that followed the song. “I want my house in the hills / I don’t want the whiskey and the pills / I don’t just give up / But I don’t think I’m down.” This coincided with the narrative that Hemsworth used drugs and alcohol and that Cyrus was not on board.

Her single ‘Midnight Sky’

A year later they both moved on. As the song expects, Hemsworth spends most of his time in his native Australia (near the ocean) dating model Gabriella Brooks. Meanwhile, Cyrus lives in Los Angeles while staying sober. She’s been dating singer Cody Simpson since October.

Cyrus has been reassuring her fans for months that new music is on the way, and now it’s finally here. She announced her latest single, “Midnight Sky”, which will be released on August 14, 2020 – exactly one year between releases.

Cyrus teased texts indicating their breakup

Cyrus gave fans a taste of the coming weeks, leading to the release of “Midnight Sky”. As her previous comments have shown, it has more of a rock and roll feel to it with a bit of a disco atmosphere. But what may be more interesting to some is the possible lyrics she revealed.

“I was born to run. I don’t belong to anyone, ”wrote the artist in a teaser on Instagram. “Forever and never again,” wrote Cyrus in another. “The #MidnightSky is the way I go…. Keep your head high in the clouds. “From these texts it appears that she is happy not to be married anymore.
