Ibrahim, Johnson help Gophers destroy Georgia Tech in the Quick Lane Bowl

– How can you prevent the nation's leading Noisy Team from running past you?

Instead, overrun the entire opponent. That's what happened on Wednesday at the Quick Lane Bowl when the Gophers were used to Mohamed Ibrahim's freshman record 224-yard rushing game, two touchdown catches from Tyler Johnson and crushing defense to make a 34 at Ford Field : 10 win over Georgia Tech. Minnesota won the Yellow Jackets 392-283 on its way to the third sweepstake in a row and was first won under coach PJ Fleck.

Georgia Tech (7-6) came in with an average of 334.9 yards per game, the Gophers (7) -6) held the Yellow Jackets triple option run attack on 205, 56 of them in the first Half. Meanwhile, Minnesota's 1

3: 0 and 27: 10 lead in the Red Zone took the lead 5: 5.

The Gophers were particularly efficient in the first quarter when they reached the ball for Tech at 10:40 am 4:20 and won the Yellow Jackets 124-3 in building a 10-0 lead.

The Gophers won the coin toss, opting to get the field, drove down the field and set the tone. They made it to Georgia Tech 13 before Emmit Carpenter opted for a 31-yard field goal. The keys to the journey were Tanner Morgan's 21-meter connection with Rashod Bateman and Ibrahim's 19-meter run for Tech 16. Ibrahim crashed five times for 33 yards on the ride and was henceforth referred to as MVP of the game.

The Gophers forced Georgia Tech to go to the first estate three times and keep the Yellow Jackets down five meters.

Minnesota took over the Tech 48 after a punt and built his lead 10-0 on Morgan's 18-yard touchdown pass to Johnson with 4:14 in the first quarter. In the game, Johnson broke the record time of the Gophers, who reached Yard's record of 1,125 yards. Big games on the 48-yard seven-game leg were Morgan's 13-yard tie with Bateman for Tech 34 on the 3rd and 9th rank, and Ibrahim topped over Lamont Simmons' yellow-jacketed cornerback for an 11-yard win 23.

The Gophers defense forced another three, with linebacker Julian Huff dropping tech quarterback TaQuon Marshall to third. And when Pressley Harvin III gave a punt only 12 yards, the Gophers took over the position of Yellow Jackets 35.

The Gophers drove to Georgia Tech 5, but had to settle for Carpenter's 27-yard field goal and 13: 0-lead satisfied with 11:57 in the first half. A false start penalty for the real first guard Curtis Dunlap Jr. in third and two out of the 5th pushed the Gophers back.

Georgia Tech first hit the game the next time Marshall broke 19 yards for the 44 of Minnesota. Tech was converted to Jordan Mason's 7-yard run in the quarter-finals of the 36's. But Winston DeLattibouderes second bottom of Marshall's for an 8-yard defeat along with two incomplete passes forced the Yellow Jackets to punt.

The Gophers went to the Yellow Jackets 30, supported by an unsportsmanlike behavioral free-trial penalty Malik Rivera. However, a third bag crashed briefly and Fleck sent Carpenter to a 54-yard field goal attempt. Carpenter missed, and Tech capitalized on the Minnesota 27, shortening the lead to 13-3 on the 44-yard Wesley Wells field goal.

In the third quarter, the Gophers forced the Yellow Jackets to hit the Seine 42, and Harvin had another weak attempt, an 18-yarder. Minnesota was set to 40 and crashed. Morgan found a wide-open Chris Autman-Bell for a 41-yard win on the 3rd. In the next game, Ibrahim took the lead with 8:24 for a 20-3 lead left the quarter.

Georgia Tech responded with a 14-game 75-yard journey that lasted 7:23 and was capped by Nathan Cottrell's 20-yard TD on an option field, reducing the lead to 20. 55 with 55 seconds in the third quarter.

Ibrahim and the Gophers responded quickly, the Redshirt rookie 58 yards to Georgia Tech 18. Five games later, his 1-yard TD run increased Minnesota's lead to 27: 10.

The Gophers had 6 : 19 made 34-10, when Morgan beat Johnson for a 30-yard TD game. Johnson's 12th TD catch this season broke a school record.
