President Donald Trump declared himself a "Chosen One" on Wednesday as he defended his government's actions in the ongoing US-China trade war.
The President's self-glorifying remark followed a series of criticisms directed against his predecessors, who claimed to have ignored China's alleged misconduct in commerce.
"This is not my trade war, this is a trade war that should have taken place a long time ago," Trump told reporters outside the White House.
"Someone had to do it," said the president. He added as he looked up into the sky, "I am the chosen one." What? We win.
"I was brought here by people," said the President. "I was brought here by people to do a great job, and that's what I do."
On Wednesday, Trump retweeted the flattering, messiah-like comments of a right-wing expert on the President's support in Israel.

Some of these tariffs come into effect on September 1, others have recently been postponed until December 15 to avoid harming US consumers during the holiday season.
