LAHORE: For the first time in Punjab, an operation to remove a brain tumor while keeping the patient in mind was successful performed at the Lahore General Hospital. Renowned neurosurgeon Professor Khalid Mahmood and team members dr. Aneela Darbar, dr. Tariq Imtiaz, dr. Nabeel Chaudhary and dr. Muhammad Akmal completed the process. It was also shown live to participants of the workshop in the building of the Punjab Institute of Neuroscience at the 7th SAARC Neurosurgical Conference.

Dr. Mahmood said the removal of brain tumors was already done through endoscopy, but this a modern surgical procedure would help patients further and allow better treatment at very low cost in their own country.
According to information, 28-year-old Mohammad Hassan Schneider is in Shahdara. About two years ago, Mohammad Hassan suffered sudden seizures and complained of headaches and dysfunction of other parts of his body. His brother Mohammad Hussain took him to the Lahore General Hospital on March 22, where he was admitted.
Dr. Mahmmod opted for this operation after a thorough examination and patient history. Dr. Khalid said young doctors should continue to study and benefit from medical research. The doctor congratulated his team members and expressed the hope that in the near future more modern medical facilities in local hospitals will be available to improve patients.
