The security patch for July is now in widespread use after a couple of Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL units received an OTA two weeks ago designed for Googler only. It contains the usual collection of bug fixes, with factory images and OTAs now available.
The security patch of 2019-07-01 and 21 for 2019-07-05 fixes 12 issues. The vulnerabilities range from high to critical, with the most severe ones being related to the media framework and a remote attacker that may be running arbitrary code about a crafted file.
In the 2018 report on Android Security & Privacy, Google noted that "no critical security vulnerabilities affecting the Android platform were publicly announced without a security update or compromise being available for Android devices." Security patches in the fourth quarter of 201
According to Google, there were "no reports of the active exploitation or misuse of these newly reported problems by customers."
The dedicated Bulletin for Google phones and tablets contains no additional Security updates and five feature updates. This patch "improves on Google & # 39; and music recognition" for Pixel 2 and above, while all phones benefit from improved Japanese Unicode language support.
Pixel 3 and Pixel 3a provide a fix for "some devices stuck at boot time" and "some devices remain stuck in EDL mode with a blank screen". Finally, there are performance improvements for the Titan M module.
