Indian star 3B Ramirez carted off the field (knee)

Cleveland Indians all-star American Jose Ramirez was wheeled off the field in a spring training match against the Chicago White Sox on Sunday after he had fouled a ball on his left leg below the knee.

The Indians said Ramirez had an injured knee and was taken for x-rays. Max Moroff replaced Ramirez in the third base for the remainder of the game.

Ramirez led the Indians last season with 39 home runs, and his .387 lead led the team. With 105 RBIs he also set up a career.

Ramirez had 34 stolen bases and became the third player in the franchise history with 30 homers and 30 steals. He included ESPN Stats & Information on Grady Sizemore (2008) and Joe Carter (1987).

The Indians will be without starters on the second day. Jason Kipnis and All-Star Shortstop Francisco Lindor on Opening Day as both players have right-back calf streets. Lindor will start the season on the injured list.

The Indians signed on Sunday the infielder Brad Miller to help second in the absence of Kipnis. Eric Stamets is expected to start shortstop while Lindor is out of the game.
