The Samsung Galaxy S9, launched earlier this year, was the opposite of a surprise. Samsung has decided not to copy the notch design of the iPhone X, but instead with a phone that looks very similar to the Galaxy S8.
After all the rumors we've seen so far, the Galaxy Note 9 will play the same score. Samsung has decided not to go with a notch, and it also does not include any new features like a fingerprint sensor under the display, so the grade 9 will likely look like a slightly more sophisticated version of the grade 8.
But It gives potential for a change of Samsung's usual playbook: the timing. Samsung released the Galaxy S9 a full month earlier than it traditionally brings out its S-Series smartphone, and the rating 9 was set for a similar increase in the timetable, with a provisional launch for July instead of the usual August. But according to the Korean Outlet The Bell which has a very solid track record on Samsung's unannounced plans, a last-minute design change has pushed back production by two weeks, which will probably mean we'll see a more traditional announcement of the End of the summer.
The Bell reports that the change to the orders of Samsung Electronics is Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong, who was in Oppo and Vivo in China, in recent weeks. Jae-yong found out that the devices made by these manufacturers are easier to maintain, and has therefore arranged a reduction in the thickness of the glass around the display of 0.5 mm. This delay will be transferred to the manufacturing of other components, and the report indicates that the entire publication will be postponed for several weeks.
It's good to see that Samsung is following a certain quality approach this year, things that happened with the Galaxy Note line. But even a slight delay could prove fatal to Samsam's ambitions to adopt the new iPhone line. With the announcement of Note 9 through July and the release in August, Samsung split from Apple's traditional iPhone event in early September, and a month with Note 9 sales without having to compete with a brand new iPhone would be a big improvement for Samsung. Getting back to the traditional release dates will not be a tragedy for Samsung, but it will not promote sales.
