iPhones, $ 29G iPads stolen from Apple Store in Southern California

Five men stole $ 29,000 worth of iPhones and iPads Monday night from an Apple store in Southern California, police said.

The police released a video in which the men in hoodies went for a walk with the Apple devices at the South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, Orange County.

The group wiped iPhones and iPads off the displays and fled the store, Costa Mesa police Sgt. Mike Manson said, according to The Los Angeles Times

The crime happened about 20 minutes before the store at 9 pm. Closing time, police said.

The men were seen in a silver Infiniti sedan heading for Interstate 405, Manson said.

The crime was considered a burglary because the suspects did not show any weapons, police said.

"There were no injuries and no weapons," Manson said, according to the Orange County Register

Suspects are "men, African American, early to mid-20s," according to Costa Mesa Police's Facebook video ,

An unidentified police officer at the entrance tried to arrest one of the suspects, police said. The authorities have not identified the agency the officer works for, but he said he was not a member of the Costa Mesa Police Department, the Times reported.

The mall is located about 40 miles south of Los Angeles.
