The World Health Organization (WHO) is now proposing a new, affordable diet trend. The Nordic Parliament was publicly endorsed by the WHO. She claims that this diet is best for people who want to eat clean, but on a tight budget.
What is the Nordic diet?
According to the WHO, the Nordic diet consists of fish, root vegetables, herbs, berries and whole grains. The diet is based on products from Scandinavia, a region that has better health than the United States and United Kingdom combined. Nordic countries will only eat seasonal foods that tend to be fresher and contain fewer additives.
Most foods consumed in the Nordic diet come from Finland, Denmark, Norway and Sweden
Calorie intake from vegetables and fish, meat or eggs, but in moderation. The diet, which has been around for some time, follows this Baltic Pyramid.
The top nutritionists suggest that this diet is perfect for Americans who have lower incomes because the food they need is cheap.
Is it better than The Mediterranean diet?
The Mediterranean diet is rich in olive oil, while the Nordic diet consists mainly of rapeseed and rapeseed oil, which are heavy in monounsaturated fats that are good for the heart. The diets are quite similar, with both reducing the risk of cancer, cardiovascular disease and diabetes due to low sugar and salt intake.
The difference between the two diets is that the Nordic diet is based on foods. These grow better in colder climates, which means that it is higher in certain vegetables such as kale, Brussels sprouts and cabbage.
Experts also say that seasonal products are more affordable fruits that are not in season. They also suggested frozen fruit to which nothing was added, and canned fish such as salmon and sardines eat best when they participate in the Nordic diet.
However, some experts warn that this new diet requires more research before it can be absolutely clear that the Nordic diet is better than others.
