JERUSALEM – The Israeli military say one of its drones crashed in southern Lebanon due to a technical disaster
The military says the Saturday incident is being investigated, but there is no danger that sensitive information will leak could.
Israel typically uses its unmanned aerial vehicles to monitor and gather information along its borders. The drones have become an integral part of modern warfare, and Israel shot down an Iranian infiltrator in February that infiltrated its airspace.
In September, Israel fired a Hezbollah surveillance drone that moved too close to the Syrian border with Israel. The military said the unmanned aerial vehicle was manufactured in Iran and launched from a Damascus airport before being shot down near the Israeli controlled Golan Heights.
Israel and Hezbollah fought a month-long war in 2006.
