See your phone for a few minutes tonight to see the strawberry moon visible from sunset to sunrise.

Although the moon was officially full this morning, it will still look pretty big when it rises in the eastern sky tonight, about the same time the sun sets in the western sky.

The full moon in June is called Strawberry Moon because it signaled to some Indian tribes that according to the old peasant's almanac, the season has come to collect ripe wild strawberries.

Strawberry Moon is the most colorful of the year as it takes a flat path across the sky, said Bob Bonadurer, director of the Milwaukee Public Museum's planetarium.

The low arc of the June full moon over the sky means that the moonlight has to flow more through the Earth's atmosphere, giving it one gives oranges or yellow hue. [19659005] For the best view, look while the moon is still low on the horizon, says CNN meteorologist Judson Jones. "My favorite time to watch the full moon is the time it rises above the eastern horizon, and when the moon is low on the horizon, you can capture the view with objects in the foreground and make the moon appear larger," said Jones.

The Strawberry Moon is also called Hot Moon because it's the beginning of summer, and Rose Moon, Honey Moon, and Hay Moon because it's the time of the first hay harvest.

More fun in the sky:: Jupiter's moons become visible with binoculars

Jupiter is another pleasure for sky watchers tonight, shining brightly in the night sky near the moon. Jupiter is so bright this month because it's as close to the earth as it gets. This annual event is officially called the "opposition," according to NASA, when Jupiter, Earth, and Sun are aligned in a straight line with Earth in the center.
