You will remember Italdesign as the company responsible for this Lamborghini Huracán bathshit with carbon body and weird wheels. Now it's teaming up with Nissan to create the craziest GT-R I've ever seen, the Italdesign Nissan GT-R50. Also, it has 720 horsepower, so.
The prototype of the car is based on a 201
Under the hood is nobody who fucks around. The twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 engine now makes an estimated 720 HP and 575 lb-ft of torque. Performance was the one thing I never thought the GT-R needed anymore, but here's how it did it:
Power plant changes include streamlined GT3 turbochargers and larger, large-diameter and large intercoolers Diameter; heavy crankshaft, pistons, connecting rods and bearings; High-flow piston oil jets; revised camshaft profiles; Higher-flow fuel injectors; and optimized ignition, intake and exhaust systems. A reinforced dual-clutch sequential six-speed rear differential and stronger differentials and drive shafts direct the power to the wheels.
That's what a GT-R would look like if all the rules were thrown out the window. It's brave and divisive, just what a prickly concept car should be.
Italdesign's GT-R5 commemorates the 50th anniversaries of GT-R and Italdesign. When I turn fifty, I expect the same kind of special treatment.
