Investigators said that "no suspected suspects" remain, and noticed a suspect who was identified only as a white man, was found dead at the scene. It was not immediately clear if this suspect was killed among the four reported.
A source told The Associated Press that the suspect who opened the fire died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The incident is being investigated as a criminal act, not as a terrorist attack, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
While the sheriff's office has taken the lead, the FBI's Jacksonville office has staffed to help local law enforcement agencies investigate.
