Jennifer Lawrence returns to her familiar territory as she signs up for her next project. Lawrence will be featured in Mob Girl a film based on the novel Mob Girl by Teresa Carpenter. The Young Pope Director Paolo Sorrentino is on board to direct.
This is one of the first new projects that Lawrence has officially committed to for several years. It is also her first non-franchise title since 201
As reported by Variety, Mob Girl is based on the life of the mob woman who has become the police informant, Arlyne Brickman's plot can be summarized as follows:
The film follows Brickman, who grows up among villains on the Lower East Side of New York City and is interested in the glamorous and eye-catching lifestyle of New York gangsters. Soon after, she begins going out and running errands for her before she intervenes – eventually becoming a police informant and an important witness in the government's case against the Colombo criminal family.
Lawrence is also credited as a producer of Mob Girl alongside Justine Polsky by her production company Excellent Cadaver. It will be her first time working with Sorrentino, but both actor and director bring a solid creative reputation to the table. This should be an interesting couple to see on the screen. Angelina Burnett (The Americans ) will transform Carpenter's book into a screenplay.
